Kumail, a comedian born in Pakistan, and American student Emily fall in love in spite of the different cultures to which they belong and which are often a source of clash. Directed by Michael Showalter and screened by Emily V. Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani, The Big Sick tells the story of Kumail, a comedian aspirant born in Pakistan who falls in love with Dr Emily, met after one of his monologues in public. However, what they thought would be just one night together soon turns into something much more complicated that brings Kumail to confront even with his parents, convinced Muslims. When Emily is struck by a mysterious illness, Kumail is forced to juggle in the medical crisis, Beth and Terry’s in-laws, who he had never met before, and disagreements with his family who still did not sleep.
